JOHN W. MARCUS
Master of Business Administration
Certified Public Accountant Certified Valuation Analyst
Certified Forensic Financial Analyst
John W. Marcus is a partner of Marcus, Hastings & Associates. John concentrates in the areas of business valuations, financial damages, and other unusual engagements that sometimes defy categorization.
BACKGROUND
After receiving his MBA in accounting and finance from Tulane University, John began a consulting career with Arthur Andersen & Co. in the days when consulting was a stepchild of the "big 8" firms. When the interesting consulting engagements began to wane, John resisted AA & Co.'s attempts to turn him into a computer programmer and joined the tax department of Arthur Young & Company. After
some tax experience with Arthur Young, John became the director of consulting services of a large local CPA firm. As business valuations became a larger part of his workload, John realized that the skill sets and thought processes of a valuation analyst did not fit too well in the structure of a traditional accounting firm. Having tried two international firms and a large local firm, John realized that he would have to create his own environment in order to provide
non-traditional services in an unconventional (for that time) manner.
